Cialis
The latest innovation for erectile dysfunction, Cialis is in a class of medications known as PDE-5 inhibitors. Although Cialis, vardenafil and Viagra® are different chemicals, they work in the same way. Manufactured by the Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company, Cialis meets the World Health Organization criteria standards and guidelines
Cialis Usage
Cialis is a tablet used to treat impotence. It can help men who suffer from erectile dysfunctions achieve and sustain an erection during intercourse.
How Cialis works
For impotence, Cialis works the same way as Viagra®. It blocks an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5, or PDE-5. It helps smooth the muscles in the penis to relax and widen, allowing for more blood to flow. As a result, erections are faster and easier with Cialis. Clinical trials suggest Cialis will take effect in less than 30 minutes following ingestion.
Cialis prescribed
Take Cialis approximately .50- 36 hours prior to sexual activity. A regular dosage is 20 mg once daily. (Erections are not automated by taking the Cialis pill alone -- without sexual arousal.)
Cialis IS NOT A:
- Permanent cure for erectile dysfunction and impotence.
- Safeguard against contracting sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV-the virus that causes AIDS.
- Aphrodisiac or hormone.
Side Effects
Although there are a few adverse effects associated with Cialis, the most common ones are headache, myalgia (muscle pain), dyspepsia (upset stomach following meals) and back pain. The severities of these side effects are minimized with lower doses.
Physician Checklist before beginning Cialis
Only your doctor can decide if Cialis is right for you. Your doctor should determine if your heart is healthy enough to handle the endurance of having sex. Be sure to tell your doctor if you have had:
- Any heart problems (e.g., angina, chest pain, heart failure, irregular heart beats, or heart attack), have ever had a stroke # Low or high blood pressure.
- A rare inherited eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa.
- Any kidney problems or any liver problems.
- Any blood problems, including sickle cell anemia or leukemia.
- Allergies to Sildenafil or any of the other ingredients of Generic Sildenafil Citrate tablets.
- A deformed penis, Peyronie's disease, or ever had an erection that lasted more than 4 hours.
Clinical Trials For Cialis
In the clinical trial circuit, Cialis has made its debut. The Viagra competitor is being evaluated globally for its safety and staying power. The following case studies monitored the performance and health of 4000 men, in more than 60 studies.
Clinical Trial#1
The focal point of one clinical trial took 1,112 men with mild to severe erectile dysfunction. 804 were given Cialis. The other 308 were administered placebo. 81 percent of those treated with Cialis reported improved erections compared with 35 percent of those taking placebo. Test results showed that out of 700 participants at least 88% of men experienced improvement with their erections after using Cialis. Prevalent reported side effects were nasal congestion, headache, upset stomach, backache, muscle ache, dizziness, and flushing. However, the adverse effects reported with Cialis were brief, mild and moderate. As with other PDE5 inhibitors, the use of Cialis is contraindicated in patients who are taking nitrates. It should not be taken by patients with certain heart diseases for whom sexual activity itself is not advisable.
Clinical Trial #2
In another clinical trial by the Canadian Urological Association, the new data found the most common adverse side affects to be headache and upset stomach. This18-month study of 1,100 impotent men showed the side effects occurred in about 10 percent to 15 percent of patients. Of those, 6 percent stopped taking the drug due to side effects. The companies said any single side effect, such as headaches, accounted for less than 1 percent of discontinuations. Also the study of safety and tolerability in patients who were also taking medication for high blood pressure showed no increase in adverse symptoms. (Patients diagnosed with cardiac disorders were not included in the Cialis clinical trials. There is no conclusive data on the safety or efficacy of Cialis in cardiac patients.)
